An AFCA membership offers the opportunity for you to become part of a network of members across Canada and the U.S. who share expertise on a wide variety of fire service-related issues. As a member, you receive a list of other Alberta Fire Chiefs and Trade members that is available only from AFCA—allowing you to maintain close contact with a team of individuals within the Alberta fire service.

AFCA membership gives you an opportunity to participate in decisions that directly affect the safety and well being of individuals in career, part-time and volunteer fire service positions, as well as the general public.

3. Return to this "Become a Member" page and select your membership from below. Check that your auto populated profile information is correct, and follow the prompts to complete your transaction, and credit card payment.

Membership Renewal for 2026 Opens January 1, 2026

2026 membership renewal will open January 1, 2026, through our website. This marks an important step as we continue to strengthen our community and provide vital support to fire service professionals across Alberta.

Early Bird and Regular Rates

The new policy introduces an Early Bird rate, effective from January 1 to March 31, offering a discounted fee for early renewals. The Regular Rate will apply from April 1 onwards. We encourage you to take advantage of the Early Bird rate for cost savings.

Membership Categories

Active: Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Division Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, District Chief, Fire Marshals, Chief Training Officers, Chief Fire Prevention Officers, Chief fire Investigators

Associate: Captains, Lieutenants, Platoon Chiefs, Chief Forestry Officers or other designated heads of Forestry Districts, Safety Codes Officers, Elected Officials or COA of an Alberta Municipality, Chief or Councillors of First Nations and Metis Settlements in Alberta, Members of a Firefighters', Pre-Hospital care workers' or related bargaining unit and member of the Alberta College of Paramedics, individuals of a government body or agency, administrative assistants

Trades: Owners or employees who are members of firms, whether structured as corporations, partnerships, or proprietorships which service manufacture, supply equipment and/or materials to the emergency industry or provide any other type of services and for-profit, including consultants. You are required to hold a trade membership in order to participate in the annual Conference & Trade Show.

Payment Options

We would like to inform you of an important change in our payment policy that came into effect on January 1, 2024. The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA) will no longer accept payments via cheque. This decision has been made in light of the challenges we have encountered in processing cheque payments, including significant delays in receiving funds and following up on overdue accounts. Moving forward, we will be exclusively accepting payments through credit card.

Benefits of Electronic Payments

• Quick Processing: Electronic payments are processed much faster, ensuring that your transactions with AFCA are smooth and timely.
• Reduced Administrative Load: This shift allows us to allocate our administrative resources more effectively, focusing on enhancing member services and support.
• Convenience: Electronic payments offer a more convenient and secure method of transaction for both parties.

We understand that this change may require an adjustment for some members' administrative procedures.
