With previous and now in my current fire department, we had/work towards all ff complete ICS 100 & 200 (BEM & ICS 100 to be compliant with the Province of Alberta Local Authority Emergency Management Regulation), officers complete ICS 300 and District FC or DCs complete ICS 400.  As an ICS instructor, now considering not having the District FC or DCs not complete ICS 400 and just having all officers (Lt to FC) only complete up to ICS 300.  Having taught numerous ICS courses across Alberta and Canada this seems to be what is needed/sufficient.  What are other FDs doing? If you would like to discuss directly give me a call at 403-304-5367…Dennis Jones, Assistant FC, Bashaw FD (ICS instructor via Truepenny Consulting Ltd.)

      Dennis,

Strathcona stops at 300 for senior members unless they have an EM leadership focus (Regional IMT C&G staff). We supplement this group with role specific training when it is available.
